This step of setting up your webshop is all about choosing the best CMS for your needs.
To start from the beginnen, a CMS or Content Management System is part of the website that lets you edit your content on your website as well as the layout from your website.
And by layout we mean the positions of certain modules, like the search.
If you are new to CMS systems just browse for a few of them like joomla , or drupal , dotnetnuke.
There are some differences between the systems and the requirements to the server .
Personally I like to build sites in Joomla CMS just because Joomla is very flexible and there is an entire community behind it making stuff for free.
You name it and Joomla has got an extension for it.
Installing these CMS systems is usually pretty simple and contains a few steps like:
- upload the files to the server
- create a database
- create a user and connect this user to the database.
- Run the install
After you ran the installation procedure you got a working CMS system for editing and placing content on your website.
The nice thing of Joomla is also that the content is seperated from your shop. In this way you can have your normal homepage with information and an integrated shop that looks exact like your website .
